With this in mind, my style as a counsellor and psychotherapist in Stratford Upon Avon, Warwickshire, and online is highly flexible and adapted to suit each client’s needs. I draw from a mixture of therapeutic techniques – person-centered therapy, hypnotherapy, CBT, psychodynamic, etc. – to create a personalised therapeutic plan that makes sense to you, always taking care to amend and adjust how we work together as time progresses.
As someone with a South Asian background, I also understand the importance of receiving a form of intersectional affirmative therapy that takes into account a person’s particular social location and the cultural dynamics that may have contributed to how they are feeling now. Along with one-to-one counselling and psychotherapy in Stratford Upon Avon, Warwickshire, and online, I also provide my service for groups in a corporate setting to improve awareness and understanding of mental health in the workplace. To learn more, see my Corporate page.
To start with, we can have a brief free chat over the phone, which allows you to ask any questions and get a feel for the way I work, ahead of organising an initial assessment session at a time that suits you. During this first meeting, we will explore your thoughts and feelings as you experience them, as well as any past therapeutic experience, with me giving you unconditional positive regard and creating a safe space for you to feel comfortable and speak freely. We will establish why you came to therapy in the first place and what you want to get out of our sessions together.
After learning about your unique situation, we will then agree on a therapeutic roadmap that directly addresses your needs, whatever they may be, such as dealing with an addiction, personal development in the workplace, or overcoming depression. I call upon a variety of modalities to make sure every client receives a form of therapy that suits them. This could include hypnotherapy (particularly for trauma-based work), life coaching, CBT, psychodynamic therapy, or a combination of different techniques, depending on what your situation demands.
I can work with clients on a long-term, open-ended basis, or operate within a fixed timeframe (six to 12 weeks, for example). We will always reassess where we are in the therapeutic process at periodic junctures. Taking this flexible, responsive approach is so important, and I always encourage you to take an active role in our therapeutic relationship, as this makes our work so much more effective. It could be that we need to introduce a different modality, such as hypnotherapy, or introduce a more solution-based approach.
